“Drive-by Downloads” Increasing
“Drive-by downloads” is the term used for the malicious websites that use a special type of malware which exploits any vulnerabilities in an internet browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. The malware runs automatically, as soon as a browser opens a page on the website.
According to the latest research by Google the number of malicious websites with “Drive-by downloads” has increased by over 300 percent.
A team of researchers at Google investigated billions of websites over a period of 18 months. They found more than three million website addresses that automatically installed malware, most of which were located in China.
This research just goes to show how important it is to have the full range of security software installed, registered and updated on your PC.
