C is for Convergence Threats
Over the years mobile phones (cell phones) have taken on more and more applications that are usually associated with PCs such as taking pictures and surfing the Internet – a convergence of applications between PC and phone. Inevitably, such convergence has drawn the attention of the inventors of malware and we now begin to see similar threats to mobile phones as we do to PCs. The first such threat was discovered in 2004. Known as Cabir, this mobile phone worm used Bluetooth to spread from phone to phone and was thought to be a very low risk to most users.
Although the current threat to mobile phones is low security experts agree that, given the trend to increasing convergence, this situation is very likely to change.
Keep on top of the danger from convergence threats by installing Kasperky Mobile Security on your smart phone.
